4/23/2018 0 Comments Man... I Feel Like A WomanAfter some pretty incredible opportunities in the last couple weeks, it has me feeling very grateful to be a GD woman. My new friend and boss babe, Emily Roggenburk, recently launched an amazing GRL PWR clothing line and I was fortunate enough to be a part of the shoot for it’s premier! I first met Emily through Instagram when I saw her one of a kind "Not Your Baby" corduroy that had quickly sold out and (not knowing about her business) had messaged her to ask if she was able to make another. If you're not familiar with Emily's work, she releases one-of-a-kind items every Monday that inevitably sell out quickly (and rightfully so, her pieces are the bomb). We started messaging each other back and forth more often until I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to be one of the faces of her new GRL PWR collection (click here). "This collection was created to celebrate the woman that you are, lift up the women around you, and embrace the most powerful force on the planet. Who runs the world? GIRLS." Emily's story is inspiring and the definition of the basis for her new line, starting off as a local photographer, she took a chance and rented a helicopter the day of the Cavaliers Championship parade. When her aerial shots went viral, it fueled her business to be able to reach boundaries outside of photography and with that she launched her apparel. How perfect is the photographer Lylah by the way? She was one of the most beautifully bashful personalities I've ever met. This adorable soul had a way of making you feel so comfortable and natural when shooting, while having the ability to honest to God make me laugh with her cute quirkiness and positivity. She's an amazing photographer and person to be around, you can find her blog post and more photos from the shoot here. In doing this photoshoot, I also got to connect and network with some other beautiful and smart women in the Cleveland area that are all doing uniquely inspiring things! Which led to the Girl Gang event I attended a few weeks later... I don't even have words for it really... what an amazing feeling to be able to be in a room full of women, most of whom you don't know, ready to meet, support and empower you in whatever you do. I met women who craft, who gift, who lift, who bake, some women who even had the same niche, all coming together as one giant Girl Gang who hyped each other uppp! It was thrilling. The event was put together by Emily (from above), Maria from Your Local Girl Gang Cleveland and Melissa & Allie from SimplyCle with help from a bunch of local businesses who donated time, talent and sweets to the event. Including my girl boss momma, who made her famously delicious custom cookies (@alittlecarriedawaycookies shameless plug) and ended up attending the event with me! Looking around at everyone in their denim was truly one of those chills up your arm moments, to see what a woman can truly do when she puts her mind to it, I had to take it all in. Not being the most social butterfly, it was super intimidating walking into my first "networking event", but I left there owning confidence in myself and my ideas while having discovered my inner badass. Check out the gallery below to see more amazing women who thrive on creativity and vendors that are rocking the Cleveland community! Who runs the world?
