LOVE AND STREETWEAR
Before all my male followers hop on here looking for a peep show, I'm still a wifey so sorry to disappoint, but you ain't getting any free looks here. I kept the intimates private, only for my husbands eyes like they were intended for. However, as controversial as a post like this may be, I do think this post has an important message for all my ladies out there.
Now before I get my head chopped off by the entire West Coast, let me start this by saying I ultimately loved it… but I had to go back a second time around. I am a burger queen. If I had to play that desert island game, where I had to choose one meal to live on forever, it’s the burger/fry combo all day long (hot dogs coming in a close second though). Judge me all you want, but I had been waiting my whole life to try the infamous In N Out Burger. However, when I had imagined what it would be like I was comparing it to signature burger spots like Five Guys. I think this was my first mistake; it’s really a normal fast food drive-thru like McDonalds (but better). Though this wasn’t my first impression…
Up until meeting Jake, I had never even thought of going on a cruise, which upon hearing this came as a huge shock to him because I love the water; being on a boat is one of my favorite hobbies, but I’ve always had that Titanic-like fear about being stranded on a huge ship in the middle of a large body of water (if something goes wrong). So when we started talking about taking our first vacation alone together I wasn’t really comfortable with the idea, but then again if you follow me you’d know Jake has always taken me out of my comfort zone, encouraging me to try new things. Which is why, six months later I found myself in Florida boarding this huge cruise ship… but for the record Jake, making me watch the Titanic the day before we left for the trip wasn’t the best preparation strategy. As you can see above, once it was time to board I got a drink in my hand and was all smiles, but I have to give Carnival some credit. They’ve done a great job of alleviating some of the stress, kicking off the cruise with a champagne sendoff, they allow each guest to bring on a bottle of bubbly to drink—talk about a vet move.
Dua Lipa has done it. She has come out with THE female empowerment anthem, if I’ve ever seen one. We’ve all had that one person we kept going back to, and even those of you who didn’t have had that friend in a crappy relationship that they can’t—or won’t—let go of, right? And you just want to tell them to get their head out of their a** and stop giving in. Here it is people, this girl literally laid it the eff out.
This is what blogs were made for... amazing, colorful, perfectly planned sessions like this. I was approached by our photographer after taking our engagement pictures and she was looking for models to do a styled shoot. Now I had modeled when I was younger, so the opportunity to do it again was an absolute dream because up until this point I thought I had left that hobby in my past. So Jake and I jumped at the occasion and headed down to an Akron facility, Studio 526. When we walked in we met Val from Perfectly Planned who, together with our photographer, had created this picturesque jewel toned dream. Every last detail was taken care of, from the cake to the chair covers, it was as if they were setting up for our own personal wedding—talk about romantic.
At the start of our engagement, Jake spent three months in Dalton, Georgia for job training. Unfortunately, that meant doing long distance for a little bit, but looking on the bright side of things… that also meant trips! When I came to visit for the first time, he kicked the weekend off by showing me around the small town where he was staying. We got Zaxby’s, which is this chicken place—similar to Raising Cane’s if you’re familiar—with the most amazing Texas Toast and dipping sauce. I thought I was in heaven, UNTIL we were driving back to his place and saw a Krispy Kreme store with the hot light on. Now I’m not going to lie to you, I was definitely a Dunkin’ girl up until this point. We don’t have a KK location near me so I've never had a fresh one off the line and DAMMMNNN was this life changing. We split an entire dozen, which if you know me this isn’t too surprising, but I was trying to be fit (and not bloated) for this weekend with my boo or else I probably would have taken the box to myself. After some slight GA exploring, we were off on a little road trip to the border to go on a hike through the rocks of Tennessee. I was ready to go, looking like the infamous scene of Meredith Blake in the Parent Trap, I was ready to be adventurous and outdoorsy. Now at this point I thought I had hiked before, Jake and I take our dogs on walks through the Cleveland Metroparks all of the time, but these rocks were unlike anything I've ever seen.
I know everyone says their wedding was the “best ever”, but I truly believe that our day definitely would have won that TLC show: Four Weddings …for every airing …for eternity. I don’t even know where to begin to describe the chain of events, bear with me this is also my first blog post, but I suppose getting ready in the morning would be a good start. For me, the day started at my mom’s house; I invited all of my—ten—amazing bridesmaids over to get ready with me in the morning. We slipped into our robes, hung our dresses, and then our makeup artists & hair stylists came and started getting to work! …and boy were we ready for this pampering. As a gift to the bridesmaids, I had laid out monogrammed stemless glasses for the girls and they went to town on the Mimosa Bar. My Maid Of Honor made an amazing playlist and we were dancing the morning away along with those pre-wed butterflies! Now when I say butterflies, I don’t mean “OMG what am I doing getting married before 25? To this guy?” second-guessing butterflies. I knew very well that Jake was the person I was supposed to spend the rest of my life with, but after being engaged for a year and a half you definitely have that holy sh**, top of the rollercoaster moment when you realize everything you’ve been talking about and planning for is all coming together and happening today.
